Except that you have to correct a medical problem, I can say that it is not so tragic that you have to wear glasses. First of all because now you can choose from a very wide range of models and colors and it is no longer an impossible task to find the pair that fits your glove, even if it is almost invisible because yes, now you have this variant! And secondly because it is somewhat chic and sexy geek look.
In general, makeup is a personalized service. In the case of people who wear glasses, everything becomes and more personalized because in addition to the classic landmarks that we must take into account when choosing makeup (hair color, skin tone, iris color, eye shape and the context in which the makeup will be worn), we must also take into account the new landmarks brought by wearing glasses : frame color and shape, lens color and shape, lens type and optical effect on the wearer's eyes. I know it looks complicated, but don't forget that the role of makeup is to beautify and make you feel better in your skin.
And don't forget that in makeup everything is allowed ..as long as you follow a few basic rules! My recommendation is to experiment and find out what works best for you. You can always seek the advice of a specialist. Don't forget that in the next period I will be in the Help Net pharmacy in Cora Lujerului (Bucharest) for Vichy make-up sessions (details HERE) and I will be more than happy to help you.
Christina Hendricks is one of my favorite actresses, and she even wears glasses. You can be inspired by her style!
General makeup tips for people who wear glasses:
- Always use a transfer-resistant eyeliner (ink or pencil) if you want to avoid minor accidents. My favorite products are Inglot gel liner and Xtreme Lashes and L'Oréal Paris Silkissime eye pencils.
- Use a moisturizer on the nose exactly where those unsightly marks remain. I do this for when I wear sunglasses.
- Curve your eyelashes before applying mascara to avoid hitting the lenses of your glasses. Insist on the base of the eyelashes for a better defined eye contour.
– Replace the black eyeliner with a burgundy, brown or dark blue one to bring both depth and brightness to the eyes.
- Always blur the circles. If you dim them, when you wear glasses they will be highlighted by the shadow of the lens and the frame. If you are lucky and don't have dark circles at all, I recommend applying a thin layer of concealer-illuminator (I recommend you try L'Oréal Lumi Magique Touch of light highlighting pen - review HERE), you can never look too rested! In the case of gray or purple circles, I recommend a salmon concealer, over which you apply a beige and a yellow powder. Don't you have yellow powder? It's okay, a beige one works, but not white or very light!
- If you still feel that you can't solve the dark circles problem, don't outline the lower lash line with anything so as not to attract even more attention in that area.
- And if there are spots or reddish areas around the eyes that you cannot fade, then it would be best to avoid makeup with reddish undertones or mounds.
- Contour the eyebrows. And here you must take into account the natural color of your eyebrows, but also the shape and color of the frames of the glasses. The darker and thicker the frames, the better defined the eyebrows should be.
- If the frames of your glasses are colored, try not to match your eye makeup with the frames. It is the lips. The lips can be colored in the same shade and you will even get a wow effect! You know the saying: bold frames, bold lips!
- If the frames of your glasses are multicolored, you can choose one of the colors in the frame for the eyeliner, but not black.
- When it comes to eyeshadow color, the brighter and lighter it is, the better. That doesn't mean you can't wear smoky makeup, but not black. Even if black always gives the impression that it beautifies, after you get used to the change and your enthusiasm will pass, you will notice that it actually tightens the features, and in combination with the lens effect it can even reduce the eye in an ugly way.
- If your hair, frames and iris shade are already colored on your face, it would be best to keep your eye makeup in neutral shades of beige, gray, brown, or their satin variants.
- There is another simple rule to keep in mind: the frames of the glasses are thick and colorful, then the makeup must be as simple as possible, in neutral colors; if the frames of your glasses are simple or colorless, then the eye makeup can be more colorful and intense.
