For about a week now, I've been looking forward to telling you that I've taken the big step and decided to take a makeup school. You probably already knew how many you subscribed to my personal Fb profile, but I'm so happy that I felt the need to scream all over the blogosphere to make sure there was no one left who didn't know about my deed.
I have been wearing make-up since 2009-2010, but I never took this super beloved hobby seriously until last spring when I noticed that not only do I know how to put on beautiful make-up, but also others, and more than that, I do it. with incredible pleasure. And why not admit it, it's a pretty lucrative hobby 😀
And in recent months I've been haunted by the idea of attending a school, so I started to do a little market research: offers, opinions, costs, duration - what's more, a lot of factors to consider! Imagine that working in this field made it much easier for me to do all these things, but so much information and opinions overwhelmed me. None of them had them all, or if it took too long and exceeded my budget by about 5 times.
So one day I decided to simplify things and asked myself the simple question - from whom do I want to learn? Who is the person I feel can shape my style, fill in the gaps and develop my skills? You realize I don't consider myself a beginner and ..I have my pride too! And the answer came immediately: Sînziana Iaru. I have been following Sînziana quite intensely in the last months and I already appreciated her activity, style and because I knew her personally I knew that she is the kind of person I will get along perfectly with.
Sînziana signs covers and editorials for magazines, launches make-up collections, makes fashion shows and teaches at Monroe Make-up Academy. The courses last 6 weeks / 3 days a week, and at the end an exam is held to obtain the diploma of make-up artist accredited by CNFPA, respectively by the Ministry of Education.
The curriculum is complex and there is a lot of emphasis on practice, and in addition the school works only with professional products: Numeric Proof, Make Up For Ever, Make-up Atelier Paris, etc., so quality comes first! And I really like that the place is very chic and beautifully arranged, equipped with absolutely everything you need.
Here is part of the program:
- introduction to the history of makeup
- presentation of products and utensils
- makeup techniques depending on the morphology of the face and eyes
- eyebrow styling
- chromatology (color theory)
- makeup base
- corrective makeup
- day makeup
- evening makeup
- bridal makeup
- Smokey Eyes makeup
- Glamor makeup
- makeup for mature skin
- makeup for people who wear glasses
- photo makeup
But you can find more details HERE. The price of the course is 700 euros and can be paid in installments.
But let's get back to my experience. This week I had the first 3 courses. From the very beginning, I decided to leave my omniscient airs at home and assimilate as much new and useful information as possible. Hmm .. Sînziana blew me out! I did not dare to ask her how long she has been practicing this profession, but she has so much knowledge that sometimes I tend to believe that she appeared with the dinosaurs. God, how many secrets could I learn from her in 3 courses! And I promise to share some of them with you here on the blog. Moreover, I will make the most of it and ask her all the questions you send me for her.
Now don't imagine that I'm a quiet or easy-to-digest student. I could say I'm the kind of geek who asks a hundred questions and some of them so weird that I'm amazed. Each time I receive at least one documented answer and a small anecdote 😀
If you ask me, I can already tell you that I made the best choice. Ah, and what I really like is that we work on models, so that each student works as much as possible on each session. I know it's common for students to work on them, but that's not the case at Monroe Make-up Academy. This means that I will also need models and I want to call on your help and if you have nothing to do and want to spend a few hours (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 11:00 to 14:00) with me, I -It would be a great pleasure to have you as a model in class. Model for me or my colleague, if you don't mind 🙂
I also wanted to tell you that there are 2 more places available in my group and by the end of next week Sînziana will accept more students. Wouldn't it be nice to be colleagues? 😀
Gentlemen, how excited-happy I am! Nice weekend!

Wow… nice to do this you like, it's really a wise decision and the price is not very high 🙂 I would come as a model but I'm not from Bucharest and it would be hard for me to get to Bucharest, but I'm sure you'll find someone. Success further
Congratulations, good luck and we are waiting for other tips and updates.
Weekend fain
How pretty! I also want to take makeup classes, but at the moment I don't have the necessary time or the money :)) so I'm still waiting. I would have liked to be your model or that of any other student, but in that interval I have hours 🙁 (or I'm at work ...).
Congratulations, Ioana! I can't wait for you to share more details about this new experience, although from now on I'm convinced that you will only get something new, as you deserve 🙂
I would be delighted to be your guinea pig or your colleague, I admire you very much: D maybe that's how I would learn something. I am 21 years old and I would like to be made up oooore in a row, in case it helps 🙂 I hope you contact me by email if you are interested 🙂 I kiss you, Ioana !!
Good luck, Ioana! From what you said above, the choice is amazing, Sanziana being a professional from whom you really have something to learn!
I can't wait for the next posts with new impressions about the course you are attending !!!!!!!!!;)
As for me (because you mentioned above that we can leave you questions to present in class: P.) I would have 3 curiosities:
-What trick or technique can be used to minimize larger, prominent eyes? I was told that matte, dark shades should be applied on the mobile eyelid, but it seems to me that that dark shade attracts too much attention and does not look too good… is there a more discreet daytime makeup alternative?
-For frameless glasses, which makeup is the most suitable?
-Because I haven't seen a professional make-up live, the blush once it is applied, what intensity should it have to look as natural as possible? around me, most of you apply it so intensely that sometimes I don't understand how it is correct and how not? 🙂
Congratulations Ioana. And I really want to take a make-up course but… I still have to raise money 🙁.
Congratulations on your choice and good luck in your future career as a make-up artist, because I am sure you will be active in this field. And I would very much like to take such a course, I have been following them for some time, but they far exceed my current budget.
Congratulations on your ambition, Ioana! I am glad to see people who follow their passion and constantly try to increase their knowledge in this regard!
And if you agree, I offer myself as a model. I like beauty ... and if it's beautiful made by makeup, it already sounds perfect!
Congratulations on the decision, I'm sure it will be of great use to you
Good luck! good decision!
Hi ,
I would come with the greatest pleasure to be your model, but unfortunately on those days and at those hours I am at work.
If you need a model for the weekend, you can call me with confidence.
Good luck !
waw ... it's a dream you're doing now. I would like to be in the future too 😀
What do you think about Melkior foundations? Did you use them? And if so, would you recommend them?
