Dermatologist Dana Bratu said in video on how to find out what type of skin you have that there are as many types of skin as there are people on earth. I also agree with this statement because each person has their own particularities, and these are important when we build a skin care routine.
However, for all areas standardizations are made, here are the skin types are classified into four categories:
- Dry skin
- It has norm
- Ten mixed
- It has fats / oils
Dry skin has some features that you can easily notice: dilated pores, dry skin and lack of elasticity and radiance, scaly areas, accentuated wrinkles and a slightly rough (abrasive) texture.
Unfortunately, this type of skin must be taken care of very carefully because it is the one that ages the easiest.
I also want to make an important observation, namely that the type of dry skin should not be confused with dehydrated skin that can appear on any skin type, even oily skin. Dehydration is a feature and not a skin type.
Today I thought I would make you a list of foundations that sit nicely on dry skin. If you don't know how to choose your foundation, I wrote an article on the blog 7 things you need to know when buying a foundation and one about What to do if you bought a foundation in an inappropriate shade, which I hope will help you.
However, I want to mention that these products are not intended exclusively for dry skin, but that from my experience as a make-up artist I noticed that when I have to apply dry skin, these products sit nicely, give a glow to the skin and look good even after powdering.
In addition, I feel the need to mention the fact that I use some of these products on myself even if I have a combination skin because I really like how the skin looks after application, how it feels during wear and how it looks after many hours. This is a personal preference because I don't like the mattifying funds that give you the look of dusty skin and the feeling of leather that holds.
The order in which I mention them is not relevant. If they got on this list, it means I like them extraordinarily much.
- Gerovital Beauty Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E.
In case you haven't already found out, the Romanian brand Gerovital has launched a range of make-up products. The foundation and concealer of the range are created in the Farmec laboratories in Cluj, and the formulas are wonderful. Ever since I first tried them, I was really impressed by the formula, how beautiful it is to apply even on dry skin (which from my point of view is more complicated to apply) and the degree of coverage with which I was able to play according to the result I wanted. You can really get great coverage if you want.
It is presented as a product for all skin types, and I agree with this statement, but I also say that it has a matte-satin look. From my point of view, it is satin, but I would not include it in the category of matte products. It contains some UV protection filters, a modest SPF of 10, but it is much better than nothing.
I want you to know that the first thing I noticed about this product is that it moisturizes. But that kind of hydration you expect to receive from a care product. I am in love with this formula and it can be seen that it was created in a laboratory where skin care is the main concern. A big BRAVO for Farmec Laboratories in Cluj!
A big disadvantage of this product is that it has only three shades available, and all are relatively light. So, if you have more olive skin, you will not be able to enjoy this formula. For now, I hope because I have already reported this to Farmec.
A big advantage it is also represented by the price, which is quite low: 57 lei (on the Farmec website).
- Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Skin Illuminating Foundation
I was very happy when the Kevyn Aucoin brand arrived in Romania because I respect and admire a lot the work of the founder. It's a very important landmark in the world of makeup, so you realize why I was eager to finally test the products.
The Etherealist Skin Illuminating Foundation foundation was the first KA product I bought because I had been considering it for a long time. And I do not regret the investment made at all. It has a liquid to creamy formula which from a very thin layer provides a coating that evens out skin tones in a very thin layer. The manufacturer says it offers average coverage, but I would say that you can get medium to high coverage if you work with multiple layers.
I really like that it fits nicely on any skin, even the dry one because it does not highlight dry areas. The pigments in the formula are strong, that's why you can work with very fine layers.
It reminds me a bit of the satin textures of Armani foundations (for those who don't know Giorgio Armani foundations are my favorites).
The Etherealist Skin Illuminating Foundation is also a moisturizing foundation that contains hyaluronic acid.
A great advantage is that it is available in a wide variety of shades with cool, warm or neutral undertones. My shade is EF03.
The product is available in Douglas, costs 239 lei and can be ordered online by here.
- Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
As I said above, my favorite skin funds are Giorgio Armani. On the skin products side, they are top of my point of view. The textures are inspired by the textures of the materials used in fashion shows, and the quality is that of professional products. Here they won me over: precious textures and great resistance.
As the name suggests, the Luminous Silk Foundation foundation is inspired by the fineness of natural silk. The texture is liquid and the coverage is medium to high. Gives shine to the skin and does not charge at all. The fact that you can get great coverage without loading and without highlighting dry areas seems magical to me. Restoring shine to dry skin is not an easy task.
I also reviewed on the blog his brother's foundation Giorgio Armani Power Fabric which is the ultra-resistant, matte and high-coverage variant - intended for combination and oily skin. I used to love Power Fabric more, now I lean more towards lighter and more moisturizing textures.
This foundation is available in 30 shades on Douglas.ro and in the Armani Boutique in Băneasa Shopping City, it costs 265 lei, and my shade is 2.
- Avon True Color Flawless Liquid Foundation
For people who do not want an ultra-resistant foundation for everyday makeup, I recommend Avon True Color Flawless Liquid Foundation because it has a liquid texture that offers a low to medium coverage, but which is very comfortable even for dry skin. It also has an SPF 15 that matters (especially if it is applied for SPF cream) and even gives the skin a smoother and more even look.
It costs around 20-30 lei, and my shade is N2-10 Light Beige.
I hope this article has provided you with useful information. I intend to complete this list as I discover and test products that are really worth mentioning. If you have dry skin and have discovered any foundation that impresses you, please let me know. I am always open to testing new makeup products.
If you liked this material, I would really appreciate it if you share it on your social channels.
